Answer to Question 1

d

Answer to Question 2

Insulin is a hormone that triggers the liver and muscle cells to take up glucose. This lowers the level of blood glucose. Some individuals develop insulin resistance in which their liver and muscle cells do not respond to insulin as they should. This leads to elevated blood glucose levels that will signal the pancreas to release more insulin. The pancreas will produce more insulin but if the blood glucose levels do not come down, the pancreas may stop producing insulin. High blood glucose levels can lead to changes in the arteries which can increase an individual's risk for cardiovascular disease.
