Jackie is worried about allowing rough and tumble play in her classroom because she is concerned that children will get hurt, that children will be less calm after the play, and that it will lead to increased aggression. Which of these concerns is supported by research?

None of these concerns is supported by research. Instead, research shows that children distinguish between play aggression and real aggression where the intent is to harm and that the two rarely occur together. Moreover, children are often calmer after engaging in rowdy play. While engaged in rough and tumble play, children learn about social boundaries, practice and test their strength and agility, and develop self-regulation skills.
