Cardiac chest pain is most often subs-ternal and radiates to the left arm and jaw in men, but some women have epigastric pain, com-plaints of indigestion, or a choking feeling and dyspnea. Pericardial pain results from an inflam-mation of the pericardial sac and is usually nonradiating and often occurs with inspiration. Pleu-ritic chest pain is peripheral and usually radiates to the scapular region. Inspiratory maneuvers aggravate pleuritic chest pain.
