Answer to Question 1

The end of the rope may be tightly wrapped with twine or tape or be braided back into itself to
keep it from unraveling. Nylon ropes may be heated to melt the end strands together.

Answer to Question 2

A Tomfool knot is most often used for hobbling or tying an animal's feet together.
