in finding max and min values are the only places they could be at endpoints and critical numbers?

If by critical numbers, you include vertices (as in parabolas, ellipses, hyperbolas, and absolute value equations). You must also include the point of change in absolute value equations, especially with quadratics.

If so, then I'm 99% sure you have your bases are covered
