Answer to Question 1

The only dietary modification is usually making sure there is adequate fluid intake, which may require several liters of extra fluid.

Answer to Question 2

Interstitial is relating to spaces within a tissue or organ, but excluding such spaces as body cavities; it is space between cells. Nephritis is a general term referring to inflammation of the kidneys. Interstitial nephritis is a form of nephritis in which the interstitial connective tissue is chiefly affected. A number of conditions can cause this, including analgestic abuse. It results in an inability to concentrate urine and usually produces a mild renal insufficiency.
