Inefficient mechanical harvesting of crops may result in a lot of crops being left in the fields to rot.

If produce or crops are not handled carefully, they may get contaminated with disease-causing microbes.
Large farms may not harvest the crops at the right time. Either the crops are not ripe enough and are not able to be eaten at any point or they are harvested when they are too old.
