You are a new preschool teacher in a classroom for both typically developing children and children with physical impairments or delays. Your school has received a grant to update their classrooms in order to better meet the needs of all students, and you have been asked to provide input into how the grant should be spent. Discuss some of the adaptations that you will include in your classroom, including special furniture and materials, so that all of your students can comfortably participate in daily activities.

Suggested Responses: Students should discuss several of the classroom adaptations discussed in the chapter section titled Classroom Adaptations: Preschoolers With Physically Challenging Conditions. These should include furniture for children who lack postural tone, ramps or low steps, larger classroom materials, special art supplies, and dressing boards.
