Computer viruses can be very destructive but generally do not result in financial gain for the offender. Should the punishment be contingent upon the extent of the damage, so that the more the damage done by the virus, the more severe the punishment.

•Computer viruses cause billions of dollars in damages.
•Should the punishment be the same as someone arrested for stealing or burglarizing a home?
