Answer 1

Let the cash payment be $x.
x = 2000 - 5% of 2000
   = 2000 - 110
   = $1890.00
Cash payment is $1890.00.

Answer 2

Let the 2001 price be $x.
x = 0.33 + 170% of 0.33
   = 0.33 + .561
   = .891
The 2001 price was 89.1 cents per litre.
