A parabola with the vertex of (0,0) that passes through the point, (-1, -3). Write the equation in vertex form.

A parabola with a vertex at (h,k) can be written in this form:
y-k = a(x-h)^2

So all we have to do now is found out the values of a, h, and k.

You're given the vertex point as (0,0), so both h and k are zero.  To find the value of 'a', plug in the other given point and solve for 'a'.
