A child who has recently joined your class is withdrawn and doesnt play with the other children. You also notice that he is not excited to see his parents at the end of the day. You suspect he may be abused, but he could still be adjusting to the new classroom and children. What would you do?

Answer to Question 1

ANS: The first step in to provide additional documentation through direct observation and assessment. Early signs maybe caused from other situations. Any suspected abuse ot neglect should be reported directly to your state agency for further investigation.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: Children exhibit either a phobia or an anxiety towards objects. They cannot classify fears. Often a primary fear is of abandonment and mix fantasy and reality.
