Previous Image | Next Image
Description: The small intestine consists of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. The large intestine consists of the cecum (and appendix), colon, rectum, and anus. The colon can be divided into the ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, and sigmoid colon. The bends (flexures) in the colon are landmarks that are mentioned in x-ray reports. The bend near the liver is the hepatic flexure. The bend near the spleen is the splenic flexure.
