Description: Oxygen moves from the alveolus into the blood, binds to hemoglobin in a red blood cell, and is carried to the cells of the body. Carbon dioxide comes from each cell as a waste product of ¬metabolism. It dissolves in the blood or binds to hemoglobin and is carried to the lungs where it is exhaled by the lung.
