Description: The Hubble Law
The distances and recessional velocities of distant galaxies are plotted on
this graph. The straight line is the “best fit” for the data. This linear
relationship between distance and speed is called the Hubble law. For
historical reasons, distances between galaxies, clusters of galaxies, and
superclusters of galaxies are usually given in megaparsecs, Mpc, rather
than in millions of light-years.
