Retrograde Amnesia in Patients with Hippocampal Damage
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: Hippocampal damage appears to disrupt the gradual storage of long-term memories. Memories older than approximately fifteen years are relatively intact even in people with retrograde amnesia, which suggest that the storage process requires between ten and fifteen years to be completed. (Data from Bayley, Hopkins, and Squire, 2006.)
