The Golgi apparatus and secretory pathway
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: The Golgi is composed of stacks of membranes that enclose separate compartments. Transport to and from the Golgi compartments occurs via membrane vesicles. Vesicles can bud from the ER and go to the Golgi, and vesicles from the Golgi can fuse with the plasma membrane to release cargo to the outside. The pathway from the ER to the Golgi to the plasma membrane is termed the secretory pathway.
