Eukaryotic cell and organelles
Previous Image | Next Image
Description: All eukaryotic cells (those with a true nucleus) have common structures that perform specific, unique functions. The primary components include the nucleus, cytoplasm, and the cell membrane, or plasma membrane.

The Golgi apparatus is a set of asymmetrically curved loops. The plasma membrane is the layer on the outside of the cell. The nucleolus is the round center of the nucleus, which is the larger round center of the cell. The rough endoplasmic reticulum is another series of maze-like loops like surround the nucleus. The smooth endoplasmic reticulum are smaller maze-like loops outside the rough endoplasmic reticulum.

Floating in the plasma are endosomes, lysosomes, centrioles, peroxisomes, and mitochondrion. The cytoskeleton consists of thick string-like shapes and microtubules are thinner string-like shapes. Ribosomes are small and round and located on the microtubules
