Pain is not a normal aging process. Something pathological is usually causing the pain. Pain sen-sitivity does not decrease with age. Some patients have a variety of reactions to pain; many are stoic and refuse to give in to their pain. Opioid analgesics are beneficial for moderate-to-severe persistent pain.
