Answer to Question 1

A
Systemic scleroderma causes fibrous degeneration of the connective tissue of the skin and lungs (and esophagus, digestive tract, and kidneys).

Answer to Question 2

A
A low PAO2 (pressure of alveolar oxygen) is primarily responsible for pulmonary vasoconstriction. Arterial oxygen and carbon dioxide values and pH are not causes.
