Answer to Question 1

C
Rectal suppositories are contraindicated in cardiac patients because insertion may stimulate the vagus nerve, causing cardiac dysrhythmias. These drugs are also avoided in patients recovering from rectal or prostate surgery because they may cause pain on insertion and trauma to the tissues. The patient who had gastric surgery would be able to have a rectal suppository provided.
