D. Do not allow client to eat or drink until the tracheobronchial anesthesia has worn off and the gag reflex has returned, usually 2 hours.
A. Instruct client not to swallow local anesthetic.
B. The bronchoscope is introduced into the mouth, to the pharynx, and passed through the glottis. It must be passed through upper airway structures to promote visualization of lower airways.
C. Client should have taken nothing by mouth for at least 8 hours before a bronchoscopy.
