Long distance bus service is cheaper per passenger than urban bus transit. Explain as many of the factors that make this so as possible.

There is one most important factor: There is much less starting and stopping on
an intercity trip. Speeding up and slowing down make the local bus much less energy
efficient.

Answer to Question 2

The drag force depends on the square of the speed; the faster car will emit
roughly four times as much pollution as the slower car.
