Publicity is information about an establishment that isspread by the media. Publicity is free, but a manager cannot control themessage. As a result, publicity may be good or bad. It can be influenced bydeveloping good relationships with media representatives. Public relationsare those manager-controlled activities designed to place a business in apositive light in the eyes of its target market. One effective way for anoperation to do that is to become actively involved in the local community.
