Answer to Question 1

Revised prints are stored on microfilm, and new prints are issued to supersede previously made prints. When using CAD drawings, the design is sent electronically directly to the CNC machine for production and imported into other software for publication. Also stored electronically for archiving.

Answer to Question 2

Revisions to drawings are required because of changes in design, changes in tools, desires of the customers, or errors in design or production. Changes are made directly on the original by erasure of the changed data. Reference to the revised area of the drawing are identified by numbers or letters and referenced to a table of revisions. Keeping track of the revisions is necessary so that production personnel, engineers, and salespeople are able to reference the correct drawing to the current part.
