Answer to Question 2

Answer: One-year-old children and their mothers would come to a lab and meet another adult. Then the mother would leave the room. Almost all babies cried or looked upset when their mothers would leave the room, but they differed in how they reacted when their mothers returned. Securely attached babies smiled and looked happy to see their mothers. Anxious babies kept crying after their mothers returned and were difficult to comfort. Avoidant babies looked away from their mothers and refused to acknowledge them.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition.
