Answer to Question 1

How would you like us to recognize your child ethnically?
What family traditions would you like for our program to acknowledge?
What can we learn about your culture to help us to be as respectful as possible? What language or languages does your family speak?
What holidays do you celebrate?'

Answer to Question 2

Quality results when teachers have adequate training in the area of health and safety, and they are adequately compensated. Teachers also need to be culturally competent, have good communication skills, promote parental nurturing, and provide sensitive and responsive care to children. The environment of care should allow for good health and safety, provide an adequate teacher-to-child ratio, and provide good working conditions for the teacher. Developmentally appropriate practice should be an integral part of the program. Caution should be taken for adequate nutrition and food safety.
