Some states allow gay men and lesbians to form civil unions certified by an official and granting the couple rights and responsibilities similar to those of marriage. What happens if a couple decides to end such a civil union?
 
  a. They must go through the Family Court and obtain a formal dissolution.
  b. The couples split up informally. Since they are not really married they do not need a formal dissolution.
  c. The couple must notify the county registrar in writing with both signatures.
  d. Either member of the couple may notify the county registrar in writing with one notarized signature.
