Answer to Question 1

In both men and women, the heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration return to pre- excitement levels. The penis returns to its flaccid state. Men experience a refractory period, when they are incapable of achieving an erection. Women do not experience refractory periods and are capable of multiple orgasms if they are effectively stimulated.

Answer to Question 2

The student should indicate that the rate of heterosexual transmission of HIV is increasing. Many heterosexual couples are reluctant to use safer sex preventions. Semen lingers longer in the body of women and their genital surface area is larger and more exposed.
