Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 1, 2, 3, 5
Bronchovesicular breath sounds are of medium pitch, are heard between the scapula and on each side of the sternum, and have equal inspiration and expiration. Vesicular breath sounds have longer inspirations than expirations.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 2, 4
Lung compliance is the distensibility of the lungs. It depends on the elasticity of the lung tissue and the flexibility of the rib cage. Patency of the nares, a sinus infection, or pulse oximeter readings do not affect lung compliance.

Dogs have been used in studies to detect various cancers in human subjects. They have been trained to sniff breath samples from humans that were collected by having them breathe into special tubes. These people included 55 lung cancer patients, 31 breast cancer patients, and 83 cancer-free patients. The dogs detected 54 of the 55 lung cancer patients as having cancer, detected 28 of the 31 breast cancer patients, and gave only three false-positive results (detecting cancer in people who didn't have it).

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
