Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 2

The American Holistic Nurses Certification Corporation (AHNCC) offers certification for nurses. The certification involves an application, written component, and exam. The AHNA offers a course for nurses to help prepare for the certification exam. The ANA and ANCC are not involved with certification for the holistic nursing.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 3

Translators are important to facilitate communications between nurses and their clients if they don't speak the same language. Nurses must ensure that the translators are communicating effectively with the client by monitoring the client's nonverbal communications. Also, the nurse should speak to the client and have the translator translate as closely as possible to the words used by the nurse. This will engender trust and make the client the centerpiece of the discussion. Some nursing schools do not permit nursing students to translate for a procedure consent because of lack of knowledge about the procedure may lead the student to give inaccurate information. Communicating with limited speech and verbal gestures may lead to miscommunication. Children should not be used as translators. The patient not wishing family members to know about his or her problem may not provide complete or accurate information.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).

The human body's pharmacokinetics are quite varied. Our hair holds onto drugs longer than our urine, blood, or saliva. For example, alcohol can be detected in the hair for up to 90 days after it was consumed. The same is true for marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, methamphetamine, and nicotine.
