2, Discuss the importance of framing in the context of reporters' limitations of time and space they can devote to a story, in addition to the variations in the level of knowledge possessed by the audience. Explain that framing is the mechanism employed to help adhere to these external constraints.

1, Explain how earned media is news coverage of a candidate that is deemed to be important solely because the media have chosen to cover it.
2, Explain how paid media is best understood as political advertising purchased by the candidates, such as an advertisement featuring a candidate's position that is paid for by the campaign.
