 Quantity  Not enough water to meet demand.
 Distribution  Cost of pumping water to where it is needed.
 Maintenance  Cost of maintaining wells, pipelines, and
other infrastructure.



Answer to Question 2

Answers will vary. Most communities obtain drinking water from groundwater pumped
through wells. Some communities use surface water like lakes and rivers. Some coastal
cities without reliable fresh surface water or groundwater supplies desalinate ocean
water to obtain drinking water.
