It is not unusual for students at this age to make jokes at someone else's expense. As a teacher, what should you do if you hear such teasing in your classroom?

 Establish and enforce firm rules for acceptable classroom behavior. Such rules should include prohibitions against statements that belittle or are in other ways hurtful to fellow students.
 Take the guilty students aside and speak with them about the effects their thoughtless remarks are having
