Another name for the betta fish is the Siamese Fighting fish. They can grow up to
  6cm and can live up to 4 years. The male betta fish is very brightly colored, and needs to be
  separated from other male bettas. If a male betta is placed in the same tank with another, the
  fish will fight until death. They are a very popular aquarium fish due to their beauty. If you
  own a betta, you will probably notice that the fish will swim to the surface of the water, when
  it sees your hand near the tank This is because they have very good eyesight.
