Agoraphobia is the fear of open spaces or of being in a place from which escape may be difficult or embarrassing. The agoraphobic individual is often afraid to be in a crowd or other enclosed space and may have panic attacks. Some people are so disabled by this disorder that they are unable to leave home. Social phobias include fear of embarrassment or humiliation. Social phobias include a range of fears, including fear of public speaking, performing, or even of eating in public.
