Answer to Question 1

ANS: 4
Nursing constantly changes and in five years, 50 percent of what you learned in school could be obsolete. When you join a professional organization, you receive their journal, which will keep you up to date. There will also be periodic seminars you can attend.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: 1
An LPN can expand his or her practice by becoming certified in a specific area. This certification can lead to a job change or advancement in the same facility. Professional healthcare organizations grant national certification in such areas as hospice care, gerontology, and stoma therapy. Certification also can come from an agency, such as certification in IV therapy.
