Answer to Question 1

Recreation workers are employed in roles ranging from workers who clean the grounds and facilities to managers
who plan and supervise recreational programs. Recreation programs are operated by local, state, and federal governments.
In addition, recreational businesses range from local farmers who create corn mazes for agri-tourists to
large theme parks like Disney World.

Answer to Question 2

Of course the Park Service, Forest Service, and other federal agencies involved in outdoor recreation require many
thousands of office workers such as secretaries, bookkeepers, and custodians. They employ myriads of workers in
all kinds of occupations, but specific to this chapter, the outdoor recreation occupations of most interest include
occupations such as park rangers, park aides, technicians of all sorts, park guides, park guards, fishing guides, and
hunting guides. In addition to paid, permanent employment, there are many thousands of positions for seasonal
workers and paid interns. There are also opportunities for unpaid volunteers and interns.
