Answer to Question 1

 (1) O Mother who loves the lotus seat,
 (2) Save me who have taken refuge in you
 (3) Complete Being, who holds a book in her hand which bestows all dominion.

Answer to Question 2

 All compositions in Carnatic music are songs, melodies with words, passed through the years by oral tradition.


  • The kriti (compostion) is the major song form of Carnatic music performance.
