Answer to Question 1

Answer: b: Fear seeking.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: For people who test high in the trait of Neuroticism, serotonin may be an important neurotransmitter. The regions of the brain in which serotonin is particularly active include the amygdala, the hippocampus, and the hypothalamus, all of which are involved with mood regulation, depression, and anxiety disorders  all of which would seem to also be related to Neuroticism. Low serotonin levels appear to be correlated to anxiety and depression, which are defining characteristics of Neuroticism. Genetic research suggests that people high in Neuroticism tend to inherit a variation of the gene (a short allele) that controls the brains ability to remove serotonin from the synaptic gap. This reduced serotonin activity puts the individual at risk for mood and anxiety disorders. Another gene variation that causes low serotonin levels also correlates with higher reactivity to fearful faces. People high in Neuroticism may have stronger and longer-lasting learned associations, especially to punishment as a result.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition.
