SNAP distributes electronic benefit transfer
cards
that recipients use to purchase food.
The average monthly SNAP allotment
is 126 per person. 126 divided by
30 days/month 5 4.20, so the recipient
would have this much extra to spend on
food each day, or 29.40 to spend each week.
(Note, however, that the practical benefits also
depend on the recipient's access to grocery
stores or farmers markets where healthy foods
can be purchased inexpensively.)
