Answer: Formal operational thinkers hold all other variables constant and manipulate only one variable at a time to observe its effects on the rate of swing of the pendulum.

Answer: In hypothetico-deductive reasoning, the person thinks about hypothetical statements, considers their logical relationship, and draws an appropriate conclusion.
