Answer: The ideal answer should include:
1. The Romans created an architecture of vast space.
2. They perfected the use of the round arch, enabling them to make structures with a much greater span than with post-and-lintel construction.
3. They developed the barrel or tunnel vault which allowed them to create large interior spaces.
4. They perfected the dome.
5. They used concrete, which allowed the creation of vast buildings.
