Answer to Question 1

B
Response:
Moderately strong regular contractions 60 seconds in duration indicate that the client is probably in the active phase of the first stage of labor. Alternating strong and weak contractions, contractions in the front of the abdomen that change with activity, and pink-tinged secretions with irregular contractions suggest false labor.

Answer to Question 2

B
Response:
With CVS, an ultrasound is done first to localize the embryo. Results are usually available within 48 hours. After the procedure, the woman should refrain from any strenuous activity for the next 48 hours. CVS can be used to detect numerous genetic disorders but not neural tube defects.
