Answer to Question 1

The advantages include access to knowledge and information from other parts of the world. Also, these technologies might be used to spread one's message to the masses. These advantages, however, are potentially disadvantages, in that such exposure to especially Western ideals is anathema to many conservative Islamist rulers.
