Several behavioral interventions can be beneficial, including weight loss in obese patients; avoidance of alcohol, sedatives, and hypnotics; and avoidance of sleep deprivation.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
Although tonsillar hypertrophy is common in children with sleep apnea, it is seldom found in adults. Large palatine tonsils may increase the risk of airway closure during sleep.
