In adults, 5-mm incisions are closed at the subcutaneous level; 10-mm incisions are closed at the fascial level to prevent herniation.

The gas is delivered to the body cold at around 73.4 F or 23 C if not passed through heating and humidifying element. If the patient's core body temperature is less than 36 C, the patient is at risk for hypothermia.
