Question 2

A patient who is diagnosed with migraine headaches has a history of cardiovascular disease and hypertension. The NP should prescribe:
 
  a. triptan nasal spray.
  b. rizatriptan (Maxalt).
  c. cyproheptadine (Periactin).
  d. dihydroergotamine (D.H.E. 45).

Answer to Question 1

C
Although penicillin V is the drug of choice, ampicillin and penicillin G can be used to treat streptococcal pharyngitis. Penicillin G is the only penicillin that does not interfere with OCPs. Dicloxacillin is not recommended to treat streptococcal pharyngitis.

Answer to Question 2

C
Triptans and ergotamines are contraindicated in patients with cardiovascular disease or hypertension. Cyproheptadine is safe for these patients.
