Answer to Question 1

Answer: A sufficient answer will address the following:
o Self-report data: questionnaire, interviews.
o Observation data: information from friends or trained observers
o Test data: Observations of behavior in a controlled situation.
o Life data: Observations gathered from real life events such as number of FaceBook friends, etc.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: The following points should be discussed:
o Correlational studies involve one group of subjects, in which two variables are measured and correlated.
o True experiments involve a situation in which one variable is manipulated by the researcher (independent variable) and one variable is measured (dependent variable). Generally there are two groups in a simple design, and a statistical measure of how different the scores on the dependent variable are between the two groups is used.
o A correlational study can only suggest how two variables tend to go together or not.
o A true experiment allows a researcher to draw some conclusions about cause and effect
