Answer to Question 1

ANS: F
Although the addition of iron would temporarily increase the amount of photosynthesis, carbon is not
considered removed from the climate system until it is settled in sediments. Most of the carbon will reenter
the global carbon cycle. Information can be found in the section Lack of Nutrients and Light Can
Limit Primary Productivity.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: F
Nonconservative nutrients are those that change with biological activity. After a plankton bloom, these
get depleted from the surface water. Information can be found in the section Lack of Nutrients and
Light Can Limit Primary Productivity.

Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
